Ottawa Senators vs Nashville Predators Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

The 18-25-2 Ottawa Senators will host the 26-22-1 Nashville Predators in the sole game on Tuesday morning. The Sens are bottom of the Eastern Conference but they have found some life since Jacques Martin took over as head coach. They had points in six out of seven before a 2-7 defeat at the hands of the New York Rangers early on Sunday. It is not like they have had massive struggles this season at either end of the ice overall, ranked 14th of 32 in goals scored and 24th in goals against, they just have not been able to put both sides together in harmony. Martin has them playing better, there is little doubt about that, coming through a tough run of games with some points to their credit. Three of their first four games post the All-Star Break will be against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks, all bottom five teams. The Sens will still be a bottom-five team themselves, even if they sweep those games, but it would take a massive step towards respectability. 22-year-old Tim Stutzle leads them in points with 45 with 25-year-old Jakob Chychrun and 21-year-old Jake Sanderson the top D-men with 28 and 24 respectively. The talented youth are in this team, they just need the experience.
At present, the Preds are just about hanging onto the final wild card playoff spot in the west but the St Louis Blues have games in hand over them so they need to step up on playing .500 hockey. They have played better on the road as the season has gone on, 11-3-1 in their last 15 away from Bridgestone Arena compared to 7-8 in their last 15 at home. That said, they have traded wins and losses in their last six on the road, though a loss at the Edmonton Oilers who have won 16 straight at the time of writing was no disgrace in their most recent game. They enjoy some serious experience on the back line with Tyson Barrie one game away from 800 in his career, Ryan McDonagh four away from 900, captain Roman Josi on 876 and Luke Schenn on 963. Four of their top five point scorers are 30 or older with only Filip Forsberg who is 29 being the odd man out. In contrast to the Sens, they are an ageing group.
