Osprey host Leicester Tigers on the opening weekend of the European Rugby Champions Cup. The home side are 14th of 16 in the United Rugby Championship, while Leicester are fifth in the English Premiership. Osprey have only won one of their nine league games this season and their last four have all been lost. No wins have been recorded in their last six matches with only one draw recorded. They were severely weakened due to the fact their Welsh internationals were busy playing in the Autumn internationals. Those players are back for this game but they still face a tough task to get a win in this Pool B fixture.

Leicester Tigers have won this competition on two previous occasions, though the last success was in the 2001/02 season. They have reached the final since then losing narrowly to Leinster in the 2008/09 edition. This season has seen them win four of their nine matches with a draw and four losses. That's left them fifth in the English Premiership but 19 points behind the leaders Saracens. Only one of their last three away matches has been lost and they are also making changes for this match with a new back-row being fielded. There may be more changes to come off the pitch with coach Steve Borthwick being linked with the vacant England job. Back them to put that out of their minds for a few hours and get a win at Osprey.
