Fifth seeded Sebastian Baez will hope to double his head-to-head advantage over the unseeded Oscar Otte when the two players meet each others on Tuesday in the first round of the BMW Open in Munich.. Baez won the first meeting between the two at the Lyon Open in 2022 and with this latest matchup also being played on clay, the world number 32 will fancy his chances of progressing to the second round. Baez starts the week ranked 30th in the live ranking which is a new career high for him. He has however blown hot and cold this season winning 11 and losing 10 of his matches. He has spent the majority of the campaign playing on clay surfaces and won his first title of the season in Cordoba. He arrives here after losing his last two matches with the latest being a straight-sets defeat to Jack Draper in the first round in Monte-Carlo.

Oscar Otte made it to the semifinals in his debut here in Munich last season. He will hope to at least equal that fete and put some glimmer to an otherwise lacklustre campaign so far. The German has struggled to exert himself and has won only four of the 15 matches he has played thus far. This has seen him drop in the world rankings and arrives here ranked 93rd. Otte is a relatively good performer on clay and will hope playing in front of home support will propel him to advance further in this tournament.
