An Eastern Conference clash between two teams close in the standings pits the eighth-place Orlando Magic up against the ninth-placed Chicago Bulls. The Magic are coming off a 127-111 home victory over the San Antonio Spurs, the perfect response after a heavy loss to rivals Miami the game before. Orlando are in a fine run of form at the moment following the win which was their fourth in the last five. The purple patch has them sitting eighth in the standings with a 28-24 record, giving them a three game lead over their opponents today and has them even with seventh-place Heat. Success for the Magic this season has come when their defense is performing at a high level, as it has been in their last couple of appearances. In their last four wins, the Magic have allowed just 103.5 points per game.

The Bulls come into this matchup on a nice run of form themselves with back-to-back victories. The most recent was a 118-110 triumph over the Memphis Grizzlies on the road. This followed a fantastic 124-119 overtime win over the Western Conference leading Minnesota Timberwolves two days prior. The Bulls have also started to turn things around regarding their performances as the visiting team as they have now won their last three in a row on the road. On the season, Chicago has won 10 of 25 as the away team compared to 15 of 27 as the home side. A big part to the Bulls recent turnaround has been the improved play by point guard Coby White. The 23-year-old has made a huge breakthrough in his game this season, jumping up from 9.7 average points last year to 19.4 this campaign. They’ll be sweating the fitness of their new young star as White is listed as probable on the injury report.
