Tuesday night in the NBA sees an Eastern Conference clash as the eighth-place Orlando Magic play host to the 11th-placed Brooklyn Nets at the Kia Center. Orlando’s goal as we approach the end of the regular season will be to secure a top-six seed which would see them qualify directly for the playoffs and skip the play-in tournament. At 32-26, they currently sit just a half game behind the sixth-placed Heat in the crowded East standings which sees only 1.5 games separating eighth from fifth-place. The Magic are coming off a 109-92 away loss to the Hawks in their most recent appearance, their first defeat since returning from the All-Star break and one that snapped a three-game winning streak. They return now to the Kia Center where they have been superb this campaign. Orlando has amassed an 18-8 record in their home gym compared to their away record of 14-18. 

The Nets continue to languish in no-man’s land as they sit in 11th-place in the East with a record of 22 wins and 35 losses. Brooklyn are in a difficult spot as their past trades means they are in a position where they have to try to win now as they have no 2024 draft picks. However, this team is clearly not good enough, so they find themselves desperately battling to possibly squeeze into the playoffs. The Nets only chance is likely going to be to chase down Atlanta for the 10th seed and the final spot in the play-in tournament. They currently trail the Hawks by three games in the standings with roughly a third of the regular season remaining. Brooklyn’s last time taking to the court resulted in a 111-86 away victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. It was a much-needed win for the Nets as it snapped a four-game losing streak.
