It's been a big year for Ons Jabeur and only Iga Swiatek has earned more ranking points than her. The Tunisian has risen to second in the rankings but only seeded third at Wimbledon. Although a good friend of opponent Tatjana Maria, neither would have ever guessed they'd be meeting in a Wimbledon singles semi-final. Jabeur is in the last four of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career. Previously, she'd reached the last eight in two Grand Slams, including Wimbledon last year. Now she has a chance to make her first final and has only lost one set on her way to the semi-final. That was in her quarter final when going a set down to Marie Bouzkova. Jabeur has won two titles this year, one being in the grass court German Open. Three previous meetings with Maria have produced two wins, though two of that trio of matches were qualifiers. Tatjana Maria had lost her last nine Grand Slam singles matches before coming to Wimbledon. A tenth loss looked possible when going a set down to Astrid Sharma in the first round of this tournament. The 34-year-old mother-of-two fought back to win that match and hasn't looked back since. Maria has knocked out seeded players Sonya Cirstea, Maria Sakkari and Jelena Ostapenko so Jabeur won't have it all her own way in this match. Three times she has had to come back from a set down but up against an in-form Jabeur, that would be an even stiffer task. Back Jabeur to win in straight sets.
