Ons Jabeur is the top seed for the Ningbo Open and takes on unseeded Tamara Korpatsch in round two. For the winner there is a quarter final against either unseeded Clara Tauson or wild card Vera Zvonereva. Only two seeds remain in the top half of this outdoor hard court tournament, the other being third seeded Sorana Cirstea. This is the third successive week that world number seven Ons Jabeur has been the top seed in a tournament. The last two didn't produce a win so she'll be hoping to go all the way in Ningbo. Doing so will boost her chances of reaching the Tour Finals as she's currently in the final qualifying position. The 29-year-old got her week off to a good start with a straight sets victory over Diane Parry. It was a tight match though, winning 7-6 7-5.

Tamara Korpatsch was down at 107th at the start of this Ningbo Open. That's disappointing as the year began with her in 74th position. Her first round win over Jodie Anna Burrage has seen her climb to 102nd and a win over Jabeur will take her back into the top 100. The German beat Burrage 6-2 7-6 and it was a welcome win for her. Before that match only one of her last five matches had been won. The hope is that she'll be able to play as well as in August we reach the last four in Prague. It has been a struggle for most of the year on hard courts for Kortatsch with only nine of her 23 matches being won. A win looks unlikely here and we tip Jabeur to win this in straight sets..
