World number seven Ons Jabeur is the top seed in the Ningbo Open and the only one left. The Tunisian faces unseeded Nadia Podoroska in the last four with the winner taking on either Linda Fruhvirtova or Diana Schnaider in the final. It's a golden chance for Jabeur to earn valuable ranking points. Currently she holds the final qualifying place for the end-of-season Tour Finals but has Maria Sakkari breathing down her neck. Winning this title will boost her chances of making it to that lucrative tournament. Jabeur has had wins over three unseeded players so far this week. The only set dropped was in her last match against wild card Vera Zvonareva. The middle set was lost but then Jabeur ran away with the deciding one for the loss of only one game.

Nadia Podoroska was ranked 87th at the start of this hard court tournament. The Argentinian is up 11 places in the live rankings and could climb as high as 65th if reaching the final. Two years ago she was 36th in the rankings. This week has been a welcome return to form for the 26-year-old after a run of four losses in five matches. This is her sixth WTA Tour semi-final of the year but of the previous five, only one came on a hard court. This week has seen the Argentinian lose just one set. That was in the second round when losing the first to qualifier Valeria Savinykh. The next two were won for the loss of only a couple of games. In the last eight, Podoroska beat Katerina Siniakova for the loss of just two games.  This will be tough for her and we believe Jabeur will win in straight sets.
