Top seed Ons Jabeur faces unseeded Martina Trevisan in round three of the Guadalajara Open Akron. The winner of this match will face either eighth seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova or quaifier Caroline Dolehide in the quarter finals. Jabeur had a comfortable first round win over Alycia Parks in this outdoor hard court tournament. Only four games were lost against the unseeded American, two in each set. That win took the Tunisian up to sixth in the live rankings. Jabeur is two places lower in the Live WTA Race but still in with a good chance of making it into the end-of-season Tour Finals. The 29-year-old last reached a quarter final in Cincinnati last month. This is her first match against Trevisan and she will be confident of progressing into the last eight.

Martina Trevisan was ranked 54th at the start of this tournament. That's well below her career high of 18th achieved in May of this year. Her ranking plunged after a first round loss at Roland Garros, a year after making it to the semi-finals there. The Italian is playing her first event since the US Open where she was defeated in the last 64 by Marketa Vondrousova. Trevisan hasn't been in the best of form back on hard courts. In Cleveland, she lost in the qualifying rounds, was reinstated as a lucky loser then lost in the first round when retiring in the second set. Nine of her last 13 main draw matches had been lost before this tournament with only one match won in Grand Slams this year. It's gone better for her in this Chinese tournament. Wins have come against qualifier Demi Schuurs and the 15th seeded Jasmine Paolini without losing a set. This is a far tougher task though and we go for Jabeur to win in straight sets.
