Unseeded Jelena Ostapenko caused an upset when beating the fourth seed Jasmine Paolini in the Qatar TotalEnergies Open. In the last eight she takes on unseeded Ons Jabeur in this outdoor hard court tournament. Here’s our match prediction.

Beating Paolini has taken Ostapenko to 34th in the live rankings. It’s been a welcome return to form for the 27-year-old. This is the first time since last year’s Wimbledon Grand Slam that she’s won three successive matches in a tournament.

Her last two tournaments had seen her make a first round exit. Before beating Paolini in straight sets, Ostapenko had defeated qualifier Aoi Ito and 16th-seeded Liudmila Samsonova.

Ons Jabeur has had three straight sets victories this week against McCartney Kessler, seventh seed Zheng Qinwen and on Wednesday, Sofia Kenin. 

The Tunisian is 31st in the live rankings and tenth in the WTA Live Race. This is her second successive quarter-final after reaching this stage in Abu Dhabi last week. That run included beating Ostapenko 7-6 7-5. Jabeur now leads her opponent 4-2 in previous meetings with the last three all won by her.

Ostapenko has lost her two matches to Jabeur on hard and indoor hard courts. We tip Jabeur to win this match.
