Men's 200m Final Predictions & Betting tips - Olympic Games

 by Matthew Newman |

The men's 100m final was absolutely spectacular at the weekend and the 200m could be just as exciting with some of the main contenders to look over before we make our men's 200m final prediction.

Noah Lyles is the most natural place to start. The new 100m Olympic champion is a better 200m runner so that makes him the one that they all have to beat. He is a very short price but as a three-time World Champion over this distance, this looks like his to lose. An injury or having taken far more out of himself in the 100m is the only way that he looks like losing this.

At the age of 21, Letsile Tebogo has already won himself a pair of medals at major championships. He was the silver medalist at the World Championships in Budapest last year over 100m and a bronze medalist over 200m. Noah Lyles took the gold medal in both of those but he was only 0.05 and 0.29 of a second behind him in those runs.

Kenneth Bednarek is yet to win a major individual gold medal but he was second in both the Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 World Championships over this distance. That at least entitles him to some respect.

The silver medalist over 200m at the World Championships last year was Erriyon Knighton. He was less than a quarter of a second behind Noah Lyles. He won the bronze at the Worlds the year before as well so this is very much his event.

Finally, there is the defending champion from Tokyo, André De Grasse. He has had some injury problems over the last few years which have seen him a long way short of this level but he deserves a mention.

Men's 200m Final - Olympic Games prediction key points

  1. Tebogo is third on the list of quickest 2024 times over 200m.
  2. He ran a national record in the 100m final, just 0.07 behind Noah Lyles.
  3. His 19.50 is the 12th quickest 200m ever run and he is only 21-years-old.
  4. Tebogo had the worst lane in the 2023 World Championships in nine, all his rivals behind him so it’s to his credit he still finished third.

Our Men's 200m Final - Olympic Games prediction

It is very hard to oppose Noah Lyles as he has been the top athlete over 200m for the last few years. The issue is with the odds, at 1.14, he is a very short price which means that we are going to look for a bit of value for those who might want to take a chance. Of course, if you do not mind a short price then Lyles is going to be very hard to beat. We, however, are taking a chance on Letsile Tebogo who at the age of 21 looks to have the world at his feet. Our men's 200m final prediction is a win for Letsile Tebogo.
