Oklahoma City Thunder vs Houston Rockets Prediction & Betting Tips - NBA Summer League
by Joseph King | in Basketball Predictions
The Houston Rockets face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder in this NBA Summer League encounter. The Summer League is an annual pre-season tournament organized by the NBA which allows teams a chance to give their young prospects some court time. It takes place at a neutral venue in Las Vegas and runs from the 7th of July to the 17th of July. The Thunder won their first and only Summer League matchup up to this point by a score of 91-80 against the Dallas Mavericks three days ago. They came into this competition as the co-favorites along with Detroit to their first Summer League crown in the 10 years that the tournament has been running. OKC has a number of exciting young players to watch out for, including last year’s second overall pick Chet Holmgren. The lanky, 2.16m versatile big dropped 16 points, grabbed 10 boards and blocked two shots in the Thunder’s win over the Mavs.
The Rockets have enjoyed a perfect start to their 2023 Summer League campaign with two wins from the first two games. They’ve gotten excellent production from players such as last year’s third overall pick Jabari Smith Jr, who poured in 38 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists in his last outing. Houston defeated one of the competition favorites Detroit in their most recent game by a score of 113-101. That victory followed up a 100-99 win over defending Summer League champions the Portland Trail Blazers. Despite this encouraging start, the Rockets management has decided to shut down three of the roster’s most important players. While Houston looked like a squad that could absolutely win the 2023 tournament originally, it’s difficult to imagine that occurring now. They’ll be facing a talented Thunder team here as well in a game they are expected to lose.

Our Oklahoma City Thunder vs Houston Rockets Prediction
This spread already looks to be adjusting and we recommend grabbing it before it moves any further. The Rockets, without their three best players, will be up against it here against a much more talented Thunder team. Holmgren in particular will be expected to have a major impact on this one and the 21-year-old was excellent in his first appearance. The second-year player finished with a plus/minus of +14 against Dallas which was the highest among the starters for both teams. Back the Thunder to cover this number and move to 2-0. Our Houston Rockets vs OKC Thunder prediction is for the Thunder to win and cover the -5.5 spread.
