Eighth seed Nuno Borges begins his Winston Salem Open campaign with a second round match against unseeded Thiago Seyboth Wild. Borges received a bye into this round, can he reach the last 16? Here's our match prediction.

Borges is a career-high 35th in the latest rankings and last week lost to Holger Rune in round three of the Cincinnati Masters. The Portuguese player is 29th in the ATP Live Race. mainly because of his form on clay courts.

He recently won the Bastad tournament but this is a hard court event. He's had success on this surface too though, getting to the last 16 of the Australian Open this year and winning a hard court Challenger Tour title.

Thiago Seyboth Wild is another player better known for his clay court results. He does lead Borges 1-0 in previous matches though and that was won on a hard court in Miami this year. That match did come right  after Borges had won a Challenger Tour title.

Wild is ranked 69th but was a career-high 58th in May. The Brazilian reached the last 32 in Miami and that's the last hard court tournament he's played in. He now heads to Winston Salem hoping to get some time on court before next week's US Open.

He's yet to get past the last 32 of a hard court tournament this year. We back Borges to win this match.
