Daniil Medvedev is in the fourth round of the US Open for the sixth successive year. The fifth seed faces unseeded Nuno Borges in the last 16 of this hard court Grand Slam. Read on to discover our match prediction.

Medvedev won this title three years ago and has also reached two other US Open finals, including in 2023. He won't need reminding that his 2021 win here remains his only Grand Slam singles title.

He's fourth in the ATP Live Race, despite not having won a title this year. In this tournament, he's beaten Dusan Lajovic, Fabian Marozsan and Flavio Cobolli. Only in his first match did he drop a set.

Both of his previous matches against Borges have been won, including a win in this year's Australian Open.

Nuno Borges will want to get his first win over the Russian but lost their most recent match in straight sets. The Portuguese player only just missed out on being seeded for this tournament but is now a career-high 30th in the live rankings.

He has nowhere near the record his opponent has in this tournament and this is his first time past the second round in New York. It's also only the second time he's got past round two of a Grand Slam.

The other was in Australia this year and that's also played on hard courts. To reach the fourth round here, Borges has beaten Federico Coria, Thanasi Kokkinakis and then faced Jakub Mensik in round three.

That was his toughest match of the week so far and one he nearly lost. Borges lost the first set and then went 2-1 down before winning the final couple of sets. He didn't drop a single game in the decider.
