Round two of the ATP Paris Masters will see the world number one Novak Djokovic take on 30th-ranked Tomas Martin Etcheverry on Wednesday. The winner of this match will move on to face Tallon Griekspoor in the third round. These two met once this year, and Djokovic won the match, though that was on the clay surface. With a record of 46-5 and 27-1 on the hard court, it is fair to say that the Serbian has been excellent this year. He comes into this tournament following a title run at the US Open, where he beat Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. That also marked his 12th consecutive win, with his last defeat coming against Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon. Djokovic received a buy in the first round and is bidding to claim his sixth ATP title of the year here in Paris. As is usually the case, the world number one is the clear favourite in this match. 

Meanwhile, Etcheverry comes into this match following a hard-fought first-round battle against Miomir Kecmanovic. That match required three sets to decide, and the Argentine had to come from a set down in order to claim the victory. Ahead of this competition, he reached the quarter-final in Basel but failed to get past the first round in Tokyo and Shanghai. Etcheverry prefers the clay courts and has made three final appearances on the dirt this year. However, he has not gotten beyond the last eight on the hard court.
