Novak Djokovic faces Taylor Fritz in the second semi-final of the Shanghai Masters. The winner of this match will face either top seed Jannik Sinner or 30th-seeded Tomas Machac in Sunday's final. Here's our match prediction.

Winning this title would be very special for Novak Djokovic. It'd be his 100th ATP Tour singles title and also his first hard court triumph of 2024. He's only won one title this year and that was when becoming Olympic Champion in Paris on clay.

The world number four will stay in that position even if winning this Masters tournament. He's seventh in the ATP LIve Race and will climb a place if winning this match. Djokovic has reached the last four with just one set dropped.

That was in Friday's quarter-final when he lost the first set to unseeded Jakub Mensik on a tie-break. He fought back well though and won the next two sets for the loss of only five games to reach the semi-final.

To reach the final, Taylor Fritz must do something he's never managed to do before. That's getting a win over Djokovic who has won all nine of their previous meetings. Of those nine losses, six have been inflicted on hard courts.

The American is sixth in the live rankings and a place higher in the ATP Race. He can move up to fourth in the latter rankings if winning this tournament. Fritz is seeded seventh for this tournament, three places below his opponent.

He's won two ATP titles this year, one on hard courts in Delray Beach. He also made it to the final of this year's US Open, losing to Jannik Sinner. In this tournament, he's yet to drop a set though two sets against Terence Atmane both went to a tie-break.
