Novak Djokovic is just two wins away from an 11th Australian Open title. He takes on the fourth seeded Jannik Sinner who is playing in only his second Grand Slam semi-final. The top seed was again in impressive form on Tuesday when beating the 12th seed Taylor Fritz in four sets. The incessant heat of the Australian weather nearly caused him as much trouble as his American opponent. Djokovic has won this title in each of the last four tournaments he has been able to play. Not since 2018 has he lost a match in the Australian Open. To get to this semi-final, the top seed (who has never lost at this stage in the Australian Open) has only dropped three sets.

Jannik Sinner's only other Grand Slam semi-final was on the grass at Wimbledon last year. His previous best in this hard court Grand Slam was a quarter final two years ago. He ended last year strongly with a run to the final of the ATP Tour FInals (losing to Djokovic) and then winning the Davis Cup with Italy. He's made his way to this semi-final without dropping a set. The quarter finals saw him defeat fifth seed Andrey Rublev for the loss of 13 games. He has played Djokovic on six previous occasions and has only won two of them. Those two wins have come in their last three meetings and he did beat him in the Davis Cup, Beating Djokovic in a Grand Slam over five sets is far more difficult and the Serb has twice beaten him at Wimbledon. We go for Djokovic to make it into the final.
