Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Wimbledon Championships
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Novak Djokovic bids to win a seventh Wimbledon title and a fourth in a row. He takes on the unseeded Nick Kyrgios in the final looking to make it 28 wins in a row at Wimbledon. His last loss was in 2017 when losing to Tomas Berdych in the quarter finals when retiring injured during the second set. Even if he wins this title, Djokovic will slip to seventh in the world rankings due to the lack of ranking points at Wimbledon this year. He's not been in totally dominant form in this Grand Slam. The set lost to Cameron Norrie in his semi-final was the fifth he's dropped, the most he's lost here since 2014. Djokovic has also lost the first set in his last two matches. He's a dab hand at coming back from losing a set. After going two sets down against Jannik Sinner in the last eight, he won the next three for the loss of only seven games and then nine when going a set down to Norrie. This is his eighth Wimbledon final and only in 2013 has he been beaten.
2017 was a year Nick Kyrgios will never forget. He had two matches that year against Novak Djokovic (the only ones they've played) and he won them both. He didn't lose a set either but both were on hard courts. They've not played since but on Sunday Kyrgios takes him on in his first ever Grand Slam final. He received a bye in his semi-final after Nadal withdrew due to his abdominal injury. That means the Australian plays this final on a Sunday having not had a match since Wednesday. It's seven years since Kyrgios last got to even a quarter final in a Grand Slam. This is his first final in three years and surprisingly his first ever on grass. He’s been in top form throughout this tournament, particularly when serving. That is likely to cause Djokovic a fair few problems in this match. It’s a massive occasion though, can the temperament of Kyrgios cope with that? Also, how will he behave if Djokovic gets ahead of him early on? Djokovic has the title in his sights and he should be backed to win this final.
