Third seed Novak Djokovic faces unseeded Marton Fucsovics on Wednesday in the second round at the French Open. Djokovic started his run in Paris with a straight-sets win over the unseeded Aleksander Kovacevic in the first round. The win was his 21st of the season and 89th overall at Roland Garros. The world number three is a two-time champion here, the latest of his triumphs coming in 2021. He will seek a third title and with it become the all-time record holder of the most Grand Slams won in the ATP with 23. He currently is tied at 22 wins with Rafael Nadal. Djokovic and Fucsovics have met each other four times before but this is their first encounter on clay. The Serb has won all four matches against Fucsovics with the last coming at the Paris Masters in 2021.

Marton Fucsovics will be chasing his first win over Djokovic here. He also started his campaign in Paris with a win, defeating wildcard Hugo Grenier in four sets. This win saw him move up one place to 82nd in the live ranking. Fucsovics has a record of 18 wins and 13 losses this season. He has struggled with a lack of consistency on clay where he has won six of the 11 matches played. The Hungarian’s best-ever result at the French Open came in 2020 when he advanced to the fourth round. It was the only time he had made the second week of competing. He has three times been eliminated in the second round including the last two editions. The winner here will proceed to the third round to play either 29th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina or the unseeded Luca Van Assche.
