Third seeded Novak Djokovic bids to reach his 12th Roland Garros semi-final. Standing between him and the last four is the 11th seed Karen Khachanov. If he can beat the Russian, there's an extremely tough match waiting for him in the last four. Either top seeded Carlos Alcaraz or the fifth seed Stefanos Tsitipas are the possible semi-final opponents. Djokovic hasn't had the kind of clay court season that he'd like. No titles have been won and in his three tournaments he hasn't got past the last eight. When it's a Grand Slam though he knows how to up his game. He's reached the quarter finals without dropping a set though four tie-breaks have had to be played, In the last round he defeated unseeded Juan Pablo Varillas for the loss of only seven games. A win over Khachanov will take him up to second place in the live rankings. 

Karen Khachanov has climbed a place to tenth in the live rankings and will go up a place if winning this match. The Russian is in only his second Roland Garros quarter final but has also reached the fourth round on four other occasions. This is his second clay court quarter final of the year. The other came in Madrid where he beat Andrey Rublev on his way to a straight sets loss to Carlos Alcaraz. His Roland Garros tournament nearly ended in the first round. He went two sets down to Constant Lestienne but then only lost six games in the next three. Thanasi Kokkinakis and Lorenzo Sonego have also taken sets off him in this tournament. This is his tenth match against Djokovic and he's only had one previous win. His one victory was a memorable one as he won the Paris Masters five years ago. On clay though, Djokovic has a 2-0 lead including a win at Roland Garros three years ago. That was won in straight sets and we see a smiliar result in this match.
