Novak Djokovic vs Denis Shapovalov Prediction & Betting Tips - Rolex Paris Masters

by Steve Ashfield | in Rolex Paris Masters Predictions

Novak Djokovic is looking to win his fifth Paris Masters title. He is already the record winner of this tournament and a win here will give him a bit of compensation for the loss of his world number one ranking. He last won this title in 2015 and is in his second successive final, losing to Karen Khachanov last year. He is yet to drop a set in the tournament this week with wins over Correntin Moutet, Kyle Edmund, Stefanos Tsitsipas and in the semi-final Grigor Dimitrov. He nearly lost a set in that last four match when having to go to a tie-break to win the first set against Dimitrov. Djokovic is aiming to win his fifth title of the year. Previous matches against Dennis Shapovalov have seen him win all three, all played this year with all being straight sets victories. The most recent meeting was in the Shanghai Masters with Djokovic only losing six matches.

Everyone was expecting a final between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal but that wasn't to be. Nadal pulled out of his semi-final against Denis Shapovalov due to injury giving the Canadian a walkover into the final. That's a relief after a year in which he reached the semi-final in Miami but hasn't made it past the second round in his last six Masters events. It must be a lucky week for him because his tournament began with Gilles Simon retiring from their first round match after just four games. He's in good form though and has beaten the fifth seeded Alexander Zverev and 11th seed Fabio Fognini. Shapovalov is up to 15th in the live rankings having begun the week in 28th. This looks booked for a straight sets win for Djokovic.

Our Novak Djokovic vs Denis Shapovalov Prediction

It's clearly not the final we all wanted but it gives Novak Djokovic an ideal opportunity to win a record fifth Paris Masters. He hasn't dropped a set this week and was highly impressive when demolishing Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter final. His opponent has had a bit of luck this week with two matches having just four games between them. Shapovalov has beaten both Fognini and Zverev this week but this is a tougher match by far. Go for Djokovic to win in straight sets.
