Norway are the second favorites in the Women's Olympic Handball tournament. The Handball Girls begin their campaign with a Group A match against Sweden. If you're not too familiar with this sport, hopefully our analysis and prediction will make it all a lot clearer.
This is the third match that will take place in Group A. Before this, Slovenia face Denmark and Germany are up against outsiders South Korea.
Norway has won the bronze medal at the last two Olympics. They were gold medallists in both 2008 and 2012 and are one of the most consistent countries in this tournament. Only once in their last eight appearances have they returned home without a medal.
Last year saw them finish as the losing finalist in the world championships, losing to France. The last nine world championships has seen them finish in the top 4 apart from in 2013. Norway are also the reigning European champions.
Recent games have produced two wins over Denmark and in their last 27 matches, only four have been lost and all to France. The last five matches between these two countries have produced four wins for Norway and a draw.
Sweden just missed out on a medal at the last Olympics as they finished in fourth place. They didn't qualify for the Olympics until 2008 and have a tough draw this year. They finished fourth in last year's World Championships and a place lower in the 2022 European Championships. Form is a worry though with two of their last three matches ending in defeat against Hungary and the Netherlands.
