France are the reigning Olympic and World champions and face Norway in the Olympic final. They’re also of course the hosts of this tournament and would love nothing more to again win the Olympic title. They are guaranteed a silver medal but will want more than that.
This is their second Olympic final after their victory in Tokyo three years ago. It’s a final they nearly didn’t reach after having to come from behind to get past Sweden in Thursday’s semi-final.
The handball girls from Norway are guaranteed a medal for the sixth consecutive Olympics in which they have competed. They last won the gold medal in 2012. The Norwegians are the current European champions, winning that crown two years ago.
They beat The Blues in the semi-finals of that tournament. Last year saw them beaten in the final of the World Championships by France. Can they get revenge and win the gold? Read our prediction.

Norway - France: Form Analysis
Norway won four of their five matches when finishing top of Group A. They didn’t start well and were beaten in their opening match by Sweden (who lost in the semi-finals). The Norwegians haven’t looked back since then though and have won their last six matches.
Going into their semi-final against Denmark, they’d won five matches in a row and each by at least a six-goal margin. Thursday again saw them in top form and they beat Denmark 25-21. Norway have lost four of their last five matches against France, the only win being in a pre-Olympics friendly.
France are the Olympic and World champions
France began this tournament holding the Olympic and World titles and will want to end it that way. They have won all seven of their matches in this 2024 Olympic tournament, but not all in normal time. It had been that way until the semi-final when they took on Sweden.
They actually trailed at half-time but fought back to level the match. It went into extra time and Les Bleus ran out winners by a three-goal margin. Before that semi-final, they’d played and won five matches, all by a winning margin of at least three goals.
