Northampton Saints host Munster in the second set of matches in the 2022/23 European Champions Rugby Cup. This is a match in Pool B and both teams lost their opening fixtures last weekend. Northampton are 11th of 12 after being heavily beaten 46-12 by current champions La Rochelle. Munster did slighly better but also lost to French opposition, losing 18-13 to Toulouse. Northampton are sixth in the English Premiership but 19 points behind leaders Saracens. They have lost their last three matches with 125 points scored by the opposition. Northampton have a good home record but their wins in the English Premiership have come against sides below them in the table. Their one loss was to Leicester Tigers being beaten 41-21. They are making six changes for this cup match.
Munster are eighth in the United Rugby Championship with four wins and five defeats. They will be boosted by the return of both Jack Crowley and Conor Murray who have been out injured. Also called up for this match are Keith Earls and Jack O'Donoghue. Munster didn't get their season off to a good start but form has picked up in recent United Rugby Championship fixtures. They lost by just a point to Ulster but since then have had wins over Connacht and at Glasgow. Munster had their chances to beat Toulouse last weekend and should be able to get a narrow win at Northampton.
