Nigeria will take on record Olympic champions the USA in the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics Women’s Basketball Tournament. This will mark the second time they face off this year with the winner playing either Serbia or Australia in the semis. Read on for our prediction of this match.

Nigeria have qualified for the knockout rounds at the Summer Games for the first time. Rena Wakama’s players qualified as one of the two best third-placed teams. They won twice in a tough Group B that also had hosts France, Australia and Canada.

Battling in qualifying for the Paris Olympics, the USA won by a landslide score of 100-46 back in February. They’ll be expected to win again here given their strong start to the Games. Cheryl Reeve’s players, seeking an eighth successive gold medal for the US, have won all of their matches in Paris.

They have won convincingly while averaging a tournament-high 92 points per game and shooting nearly 50% from the field. Team USA began their tournament with a 102-76 victory over Japan. In their next two matches, against Belgium and Germany, they put up 87 points in each game.
