Top seed Nicolas Jarry begins his 2024 Chile Open campaign against unseeded Federico Coria. This is a second round match in this outdoor clay court tournament. Jarry won this tournament last year and doesn't have any seeded players between him and the semi-finals. The seed he could have faced in the last eight was Roberto Carballes Baena but he lost in the first round. Jarry began this tournament ranked 22nd in the world which is four places below his career high. The Chilean had a disappointing start to the new year on hard courts and only got to the second round of the Australian Open. His form improved when back on clay and he made it all the way to the final in Buenos Aires, losing to Facundo Diaz Acosta and beating Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter finals. 

To reach the last eight, Federico Coria has to get his first win against Nicolas Jarry. There have been three previous meetings between the pair and Jarry has won them all in straight sets and on clay. This is their first match since 2021 when Coria only won five games against his opponent. Coria was in 88th position in the rankings when this ATP 250 tournament got underway. That's well below his career high of 49th. He beat qualifier Alex Molcan in straight sets in round one losing one game in the first set but needing a tie-break in the second. This year has seen him reach a Challenger Tour final and on the main tour, the semi-finals in both Cordoba and Buenos Aires. It's a tricky match for Jarry but we believe he cen get the win.
