Nicolás Jarry vs Alex Michelsen Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

23rd seed Nicholas Jarry has a tricky match in the second round of the 2023 US Open. He takes on wild card Alex Michelsen who definitely looks a future star. The winner of this match will take on either 13th seed Alex de Minaur or unseeded Wu Yibing in the last 32. Jarry is the world number 25 but is in the second round of the US Open for only the second time. Before this year, he'd played seven matches in this Grand Slam and lost five of them. He hadn't made it past the second round of a Grand Slam until this year. The fourth round was reached in Roland Garros and then round three at Wimbledon. Jarry played three hard court tournaments in the lead up to the US Open. His best performance came in Los Cabos where he lost in the last eight to Stefanos Tsitsipas after winning the first set. He's much better on clay courts with two ATP Tour titles won this year. Round one of the US Open saw him beat Luca Van Assche in four sets, losing the second.

Alex Michelsen is ranked 127th in the world but is up to 115th in the live rankings. The 19-year-old received a wild card to play in this tournament but is unlikely to need many more in the future. This is his first time in a Grand Slam and in the first round he beat Albert Ramos Vinolas in straight sets. The teenager recently reached the last 16 of the hard court Winston Salem Open. He's previously got to the final of the Hall of Fame grass court tournament. Michelsen has had success on the Challenger Tour with one hard court title won and an ITF tournament won too.  He lacks experience but we believe he can at least win a set, so we recommend going for over 3.5 sets in the match.
