New Zealand and Pakistan meet at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the first of the semi-finals in the T20 Cricket World Cup. Both teams had contrasting journeys from the group stage as New Zealand were always on top of their group and qualified with just a single loss against England. Pakistan on the other
hand had a roller coaster of a ride as they seemed set to be eliminated after narrow losses to India and Zimbabwe but were thrown a lifeline when the Netherlands shocked South Africa. New Zealand are still seeking their first ever World Cup in limited overs cricket and on current form they will fancy their
chances of lifting their maiden title. They will however need to get past a Pakistan team that can never be discounted as they can beat any team on their day. The Black Caps will again look to Glenn Phillips for runs as he is the leading run scorer for his team in this tournament.
Pakistan remain the most inconsistent of teams as they showed when they lost to minnows Zimbabwe but then bounced back to beat South Africa. They are a dangerous team with match winners all through their lineup but they will want more from their premier batsmen, Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad
Rizwan. They entered the World Cup ranked number one and two in the ICC Batting Rankings but have failed to deliver up to this point. This will be the perfect opportunity for them to come good against a very strong New Zealand team. Pakistan are blessed with the most balanced bowling group in the
tournament and if their batsmen fire then they could be playing on Sunday in the final.
