New Zealand vs India Prediction & Betting Tips - ICC Champions Trophy
by Devesh Jaganath | in ICC Champions Trophy Predictions
The final group stage match in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy brings us a top-of-the-table clash in Group A, with New Zealand taking on India at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. The Black Caps and Men in Blue are locked on four points apiece and are first and second in the group standings, respectively. Check out our prediction below!
Both these sides won their two preceding matches in the group. Thus, after the match between Bangladesh and Pakistan on Thursday was abandoned without a ball being bowled, New Zealand and India secured qualification to the knockout stage of the competition. While this match will not affect either of these teams’ chances of progressing to the next round, the winner will secure the top spot in Group A.
The pre-match betting odds have India installed as the out-and-out favourites in this match. Let’s take a look at some of the key stats to consider in this one.

New Zealand - India: Form Analysis
New Zealand made the perfect start to their Champions Trophy campaign as they secured an impressive 60-run victory over Pakistan on the opening day of the tournament in Karachi.
The Black Caps followed that result up with a five-wicket win against Bangladesh last week, which took them to the top of the group standings, owing to a healthy +0.863 net run-rate.
With those results, the Kiwis are now on a five-match win streak in ODIs, which included winning the tri-nations tournament against Pakistan and South Africa leading up to this competition.
India have won the last five ODI matches between these sides!
Indeed, the Indian cricket team have been incredible in the white-ball format over the last couple of years, having reached the semi-final of the ODI World Cup and won the T20 World Cup last year.
The Men in Blue carried that form into this competition and notched up a six-wicket victory against the Tigers in their tournament opener before another six-wicket triumph over the Shaheens in game two.
The Blues Shirts also thumped England 3-0 in their ODI warm-up series earlier this month after a 4-1 T20 series victory, meaning they too are riding a five-match 50-over win streak.

New Zealand & India Squad Analysis
Tom Latham delivered a stunning knock of 118 not out against Pakistan in his first innings and is currently ranked third in the leading run-scorer standings with 173 in two games.
Michael Bracewell, who bowled his 10 overs consecutively against Bangladesh, finished with impressive figures of 4 for 26, including 43 dot balls, and is now ranked second in the leading wicket-taker standings.
Bracewell and William O'Rourke are the second and third-highest wicket-takers in the competition!
Given that both sides are guaranteed entry to the knockouts, we are likely to see a few changes to the starting lineups, and reports in the lead-up suggest that India could rest skipper Rohit Sharma.
However, the Men in Blue still have plenty of firepower at the top of the order in opener Shubman Gill, veteran Virat Kohli and the ultra-consistent Shreyas Iyer.
Gill and Kohli have both posted centuries in their first two games and are ranked fourth and fifth with 147 and 122 runs in the leading run-scorer standings, respectively.

Our New Zealand vs India Prediction
While both these sides are already assured of a place in the semi-final of this year’s Champions Trophy, this match still carries major importance as it will determine the team that will finish top of the group standings.
Given their recent form in limited-overs cricket, it is tough to back against India. The Men in Blue have also beaten this opponent in their last five encounters, and we fancy them to extend that record with another victory in this one. Our New Zealand vs India prediction is India wins the match.
