New Zealand vs England Prediction & Betting Tips - First Test Match
by Steve Ashfield | in Cricket Predictions
England return to test cricket after the Ashes series of the summer. They are in New Zealand for a two-test series and it looks like being a tough battle for them. The home side have only lost one of their last 15 test matches played on home soil with ten ending in victories. England will be giving a first cap to Dom Sibley who will be opening the batting with Rory Burns. It's the latest attempt by England to find a successful opening batting partnership. Back in the side is batsman Ollie Pope who will hope to do better than his previous spell in test cricket when only scoring 54 runs in two matches. Sam Curran has been picked ahead of Chris Woakes.
New Zealand will give England's batsmen a severe test with Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Neil Wagner all playing. Mitchell Santner and Colin de Grandhomme will also make life difficult for the English batting line-up. The home side are second in the ICC Test rankings and face an England side that haven't won in this country in their last six matches. English cricket fans still have nightmares over being dismissed for 58 in their last series. England may have a new coach in Chris Silverwood but there continues to be doubts over their batting skills. Until there is evidence that those problems are being solved, it's best to bet on New Zealand winning this match.
