Monday in Major League Baseball sees a subway series between the two New York teams when the Yankees host the Mets at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. It’s been a tough recent run for the Yankees, whose most recent win over the Blue Jays was only their second in the past eight games. Even with the downturn in form, the Yankees still hold an eight game lead over the second place Rays thanks to a red-hot first half of the MLB season. A win against their New York rivals would go a long way to getting this talented team back on track with the postseason right around the corner. The Mets are having a wonderful season of their own and their 79-44 record puts them first in the NL East and second only to the Dodgers for the best record in all of baseball.

It’s a very rare occasion that the Yankees are available to take as the underdogs and almost unheard of when they are playing on home soil. These odds are mostly down to the fact that Scherzer is starting for the Mets and, while the 37-year-old has been excellent this season, the Yankees’ Domingo German is potentially being a bit undervalued in this spot.
