The first game of the ALDS sees the New York Yankees looking to get their World Series run off on the right foot when they host the Cleveland Guardians at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. It’s now been 12 years since the Yankees lifted their last World Series trophy in 2009 and the team hasn’t gotten back to an ALCS series since their 2019 defeat at the hands of the Astros. This Yankees team looks built to challenge for the title however, and their 99-63 regular season record will have fans dreaming of a championship. They face off against the Guardians who are making their fifth playoff appearance in the past seven seasons and will be hoping to finally end their World Series drought of 73 years – the longest active drought in the MLB.
