New York Yankees vs Chicago Cubs Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB

Friday night in the MLB sees the AL East fourth-place New York Yankees hosting the NL Central third-placed Chicago Cubs. The Yankees will be looking to get back to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Orioles. The Bronx Bombers would ultimately split that four game series with Baltimore as they now set their sights on the first of three games against Chicago. New York is unlucky to be competing in the toughest division in baseball. Their 48-40 record would be good enough for a top spot in many other divisions but has them sitting second from bottom in the AL East. The Yankees are now eight games behind the first-place Rays but have built up a three game lead over the Red Sox for one of the four Wild Card playoff spots. New York will be desperate to get rid of the bad taste that is surely lingering in the players’ mouths after a 14-1 humiliating defeat to the Orioles on Thursday.

The hosts will send out Carlos Rodon for his Yankees debut after signing in the offseason but missing the first half of the season with injury. The 162 million dollar man had a terrific season last year for the Giants where he finished 14-8 with a 2.88 ERA.

Chicago saw their two game winning streak snapped on Thursday in the last of a four game series against the Brewers on Thursday. Chicago would lose 6-5 to split the series with Milwaukee 2-2 and fail to make up any ground on their division rivals in the standings. The Cubbies now sit six games behind the Brewers in second-place and eight games behind the division leading Reds. This is the first time that these two teams have faced off this season. However, the Cubs will have bad memories of the last time they faced the Yankees in the 2022 season as New York swept the three games and put up 18 runs in the third and final outing. 

The visitors will send Jameson Taillon to the mound to face off against his former team. Taillon is 2-6 on the season with a 6.93 ERA in what has been a very rough year so far.
