The Las Vegas Golden Knights will look to get back on track after a poor recent run of form when they head to the Big Apple to take on the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. It has not been a good three weeks for Vegas who have surrendered the top spot in the Pacific division to the Seattle Kraken after a run of only two wins from their previous eight games. The Golden Knights’ now have a record of 27 wins, 17 losses and three overtime defeats so far on the season, putting them on 61 points and trailing Seattle on goal differential. The visitors are on the third game of a six game road trip and the second of their three straight meetings with the tri-state area teams following their 3-2 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. The Knights will need to rediscover their goal scoring form as only once in the last five games have they scored over two goals.
The Rangers come into this matchup looking to build some consistency after trading a win for a loss in their last six outings. New York fell to the Maple Leafs in overtime 3-2 on Wednesday in Toronto after previously having put six goals past Florida at MSG. They’ll return back to the Garden for this game and will hope to pick up where they left. The Blueshirts currently sit third in the Metropolitan division with a record of 26 wins, 14 losses and eight overtime defeats, putting them on 60 points and trailing the first-place Hurricanes by eight points. New York has been strong on the defensive side of the puck, in large part due to the heroics in goal by the superb Igor Shesterkin. The Rangers have allowed only 11 total goals in their last six games and Shesterkin is giving up an average of just 2.35 goals against this season.
