New York Mets vs Miami Marlins Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in MLB Predictions
Sunday in Major League Baseball sees the New York Mets and Miami Marlins cap off a four game series at Citi Field in Queens. The Mets took the first and third games of the series with the latest finishing in a thrilling 5-4 extra innings victory for the home team. The victory moves the Mets to 53-32 on the season, giving them the second best record in the National League and has them atop the NL East. They’ll hope to continue their winning ways as they have to contend with a streaking Atlanta Braves team who have cut the Mets lead to only 2.5 games in the division. The loss was a tough result for the Marlins who are playing well as of late and have ripped off seven wins in the last 10 games. Miami sits second from bottom in the NL East with a 40-43 record, a massive 12 games behind their opponents today.
Taking the mound for Miami is their ace Sandy Alcantara, who has a legitimate claim as the best pitcher in the NL at the moment. The 26-year-old Dominican is 9-3 on the year with a dazzling 1.83 ERA in 17 starts as well as already having two complete games under his belt. Alcantara was at his absolute best in his last outing, pitching an eight inning shutout while only allowing two hits and striking out 10 in a completely dominating performance. This will be the NL Cy Young award frontrunner’s third appearance this season against the Mets, where he has gone 1-1 with six earned runs allowed in 15 total innings pitched. Getting the start for New York is Taijuan Walker who is 7-2 with a 2.86 ERA on the year. Walker has been pitching pretty well as of late, allowing just three earned runs on eight hits in his last 13 innings of work.
