The New York Knicks play host to local rivals the Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden for the second to last game in the NBA regular season. New York is still jostling for position in a crowded East standings and will come down to the final day of the season as to where they finally end up. As things currently stand, the Knicks’ 48-32 record has them sitting in third-place, one game behind the second-place Bucks and one game ahead of the fourth-placed Cavaliers. That means that the second seed is still in play for the hosts should they win out and Milwaukee also lose their final two (the Bucks have the regular season tiebreaker advantage). The Knicks will come into this one playing the second leg of a back-to-back after beating the Celtics 118-110 on Thursday evening. It’s likely that we see a full-strength Knicks squad here as there is still plenty to play for in terms of seeding and first-round matchup potential.

The Brooklyn Nets have a record of 32-48 which puts them 11th in the Eastern Conference. They’ve been eliminated from any postseason possibilities as their four-game deficit on the 10th-place Hawks sees it impossible for them to sneak into the final play-in tournament spot game. The Nets have been on a solid run of form lately and are coming off a 106-102 home win over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. The victory means that the Nets have now won three of their last four overall with wins over the Pacers and Pistons as well in the last nine days. Brooklyn has shown a decent ability on the defensive end this season as they rank tied for 13th with 113.4 points allowed per game. However, it’s on the offensive end where they have struggled as they rank 24th in scoring at 110.7 points per contest.
