New York Jets vs Los Angeles Chargers Prediction & Betting Tips - NFL

The halfway point of the NFL regular season concludes with this Monday Night Football matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and the New York Jets. The visiting Chargers (2nd, AFC West) are 3-4 on the season while the Jets (3rd, AFC East) have a 4-3 record. New York comes into this week nine matchup off the back of a dramatic 13-10 overtime win against city rivals the Giants. The Jets needed a Giants missed field goal late in the fourth quarter combined with a Zach Wilson led late charge up the field to tie the game up as time expired by way of a 35-yard field goal. They would then go on to secure an unlikely win in overtime to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Jets have now won their last three in a row after their 20-14 upset over the Eagles last week. New York has one of the best defenses in the NFL which consistently allows them to stay competitive deep into games. 

The Chargers stormed out to a 24-7 halftime lead over the Chicago Bears last Sunday and never looked back. They would eventually wrap up a 30-13 victory for a much needed W in the win column. The result ended a run of two consecutive losses for Los Angeles that saw them facing a potentially unclimbable hole. At 3-4, there’s still certainly work to be done but a potential Wild Card spot is much more feasible than it would have been with a 2-5 record. There’s no questioning the offensive capabilities that the Bolts have with 25-year-old QB Justin Herbert at the helm. Where they’ve struggled, however, has been on the defensive side. The 13-point showing by the defense last weekend looks encouraging but it’s important to remember that it came against a rookie quarterback.
