New York Islanders vs Winnipeg Jets Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Joseph King | in NHL Predictions
An important matchup on Wednesday’s slate of the NHL sees the Winnipeg Jets heading to the UBS Arena to take on the New York Islanders. The Isles are hoping to build up some consistency as they seek back-to-back wins following a difficult stretch of two wins in six games. Their last outing resulted in a 4-2 away win over Pittsburgh, who they are currently battling for a Wild Card position. New York are fourth in the Metropolitan division with a record of 29 wins, 24 losses and seven overtime defeats. While they may be unable to catch the third-place Rangers, the Islanders are still in a good position to secure themselves a playoff spot. The Isles lead the Wild Card race with a one point lead over second-place Florida and a two point lead over Pittsburgh.
The Jets will look to go 2-1 on their tri-state away trip with a win over the Islanders. Winnipeg is coming off a 4-1 win over the Rangers which was preceded by a 4-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils. The Jets have been in an overall positive run of form with four wins from their last six games, putting them second in the Central division. The visitors have a record of 35 wins, 21 losses and two overtime defeats for a total of 71 points. They are competing with the Stars for the top spot in the division who they trail by only a single point. Winnipeg have been about .500 on their travels this season with 15 wins from their 29 road games compared to 20 wins from their 28 home games.

Our New York Islanders vs Winnipeg Jets Prediction
The Islanders are a strong home team and are coming off a huge away win over Wild Card rivals Pittsburgh which should give them some positive momentum ahead of this clash. The Jets have struggled in recent games to find consistent offense and are coming up against one of the NHL’s tougher defensive squads. With their about average away results, look for the Jets to close out their east coast away trip with another loss as the Islanders should be able to get the victory here.
