They sit third in the extremely competitive NFC East division, with Washington’s record of 7-5 putting them in fourth. This is the first of two scheduled matchups between these two sides in the next three weeks with the first taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

The Giants are coming off a hard fought 28-20 loss against division rivals Dallas in their last game, making it two losses in a row for Big Blue and three losses from their last four. New York now has a huge three weeks coming up against division opponents which could very well determine their postseason fate. New York will have to improve on the defensive side of the ball as they have given up 31 points in the week 11 loss to the Lions followed by 28 points allowed to the Cowboys. They’ll have to deal with a Washington team coming off three straight victories and having ripped off an impressive six wins from their last seven. The Commanders seem to be getting better as the season wears on and will provide stiff competition for New York.

The Giants have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks, a large contributor to their recent losing streak. However, they could be looking at as many as five starters returning for this all-important division clash against the Commanders. Among those is rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger is likely to come back into the action for the first time since week 7. They will also be thrilled to welcome back Azeez Ojulari who should provide New York with some much needed pass rushing as the Giants rank close to the bottom of the NFL in that regard. The Commanders will be sweating the status of influential defensive tackle Chase Young who could make a return in this game. It does look unlikely for Young though, who remained inactive for a number of the Commander’s practices this week.
