The Golden State Warriors are top of both the Pacific Division and the Western Conference. They look to get their 30th win of the season when travelling to the New Orleans Pelicans. Their opponents are fourth in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference. While the Warriors are in top position, they find themselves in a tight battle with the Phoenix Suns. Both teams are in the Pacific Division and they both have a 29-8 season record, with the Suns second overall in the conference. The Warriors have a 12-5 record on the road but lost their last match 99-82 at Dallas Mavericks. That was their first loss of the new year after wins against Utah (third in the Western Conference with 28 wins) and Miami.

New Orleans have a 13-25 season record and are one from bottom in the Western Conference with only Houston Rockets below them. They have only won seven of their 18 home games played this season. 2022 hasn't gotten off to a good start at all for the Pelicans. All three of their games have been lost and by an aggregate margin of 47 points. That includes losing their opening fixture of the year by 23 points to Milwaukee.  That's been followed by home losses to Utah and Phoenix It's a disappointing but uderstandable run considering they'd won five of their last six games played in 2021. Having to face the top three teams in the conference in the first week of the year is a bit tough. Back Golden State to get the win here.
