The New Orleans Pelicans and the Detroit Pistons are set to square off at Smoothie King Center in Monday's NBA cross-conference clash. The Pelicans are 14th in the Western Conference table, while the Pistons are 6th in the Eastern Conference. Here's our match prediction. 

The New Orleans Pelicans put up a lively fight against the San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center on Saturday. However, their efforts came to nothing at the end of the day as they lost 119-115.

CJ McCollum led the way with 26 points and Trey Murphy III contributed 20 points. They did well offensively, shooting 50% from the field while allowing the Spurs to shoot 46.4%.

The Pelicans return home to Smoothie King Center before heading out for a three-game road trip. Their current situation has not been inspiring. In addition to a two-match losing streak, they have recorded six losses in seven outings.

The Detroit Pistons enter this game after a 113-107 home defeat against the Oklahoma City Thunder. That result marked their second consecutive NBA defeat.

It has to be pointed out that this was their last match of a three-game homestand (W1, L2). Perhaps a change of scenery will do them the world of good.
 
Gone are the glory days when the Pistons were untouchable, winning eight consecutive matches from February 08 to 27. The atmosphere has been sour with four losses in six games.
