New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

A Tri-State area clash in the NHL’s Metropolitan division sees the New York Rangers making the short trip across the George Washington Bridge to the Prudential Center to take on the New Jersey Devils for this afternoon start time. These two teams are separated by just one point in the standings as the Devils’ record of 24 wins, 12 losses and three overtime defeats gives them the slight advantage over the Rangers and their 22 win, 12 loss, six overtime defeat record. The Devils sit second in the Metropolitan division on 51 points and trail the first-place Hurricanes by five. New Jersey have been on an awful stretch of form since the beginning of December and have won only three of the last 13 games. Their last outing resulted in a 5-3 home loss to the Blues, making it now a full calendar month since the Devils have recorded back-to-back victories.
Hoping to take advantage of this downturn in form are the New York Rangers, who have been on an upward trajectory as of late. The Rags are coming off a 4-1 away win over Montreal which marks their third victory in a row and seventh win from their last 10 games. Interestingly, both New Jersey and New York have been much better teams on the road this season rather than on their home ice. The Rangers have won 13 of their 20 away trips while the Devils have picked up 14 wins from 17 away games. We’ll see if that plays a factor in this one especially considering that the Rangers have won their last two on the road while the Devils are on a horrid home stretch of eight straight games without a win.
