New Jersey Devils vs Boston Bruins Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

The Atlantic-leading Boston Bruins (18-5-3) head to New Jersey to take on the 14-11-1 Devils. Their home rink has been a challenging place for the Devils so far this season, with just a 5-6-1 mark there. Four straight losses at home will have murmurs of discontent from fans, even more so with a pair of them coming against the Columbus Blue Jackets and the San Jose Sharks, teams the Devils should be beating. They won three of the four games on their recent road trip to western Canada, their only defeat coming at the hands of the red-hot Edmonton Oilers. They need to bring that level of performance back to 'The Rock' with the #1 seed in the east from last season visiting. They have not had a win against the Bruins in the last two seasons, a record that will start to wear on them the longer that it goes on.
After the top point-getting performance in NHL history last season, the Bruins have got off to another solid start. They won their first nine games of the season and although they have cooled off a little since, they are still the top team in their division. If they are to beat the Devils, they are going to have to do it without Pavel Zacha and Charlie McAvoy. They are 4th and 5th in points for the team with McAvoy their top defenceman. Both are big losses for the club, but they are more than capable of papering over those cracks as they did in their 5-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes with the same pair not on the ice. David Pastrnak is their biggest goal threat, notching up 16 in the first 26 games of the season. 61 goals and 113 points last season were career highs and he is on pace to beat the latter this season, currently 3rd in the NHL in that category.
