The 27-14-4 Florida Panthers are in Music City to play the 25-20-1 Nashville Predators. This is a single game at home for the Preds, sandwiched by three games on the road on each side. They won only one of those first three, beating the Los Angeles Kings, a team who have been poor at home this season. Their losses came at the Arizona Coyotes and the Vegas Golden Knights. They have only gone 5-5 at home in their last 10 so they have struggled to really get things moving in the right direction. Middle of the road in both goals scored and conceded, they have relied heavily on four players for points with the rest of the team only chipping in with the odd goal. Filip Forsberg leads the way for them with 49 points from their 46 games. He has had a healthy season this time around, something that has been a rarity in his career.
Last season the Panthers won the Eastern Conference but they were beaten home and away by the Preds, including a 7-3 defeat in this building. They have had a couple of crazy streaks of late, winning nine games on the bounce but then losing their next four heading into this contest. 18 goals have been conceded in those four games which is a stark contrast to how the team who have conceded the 5th fewest goals in the league have played for the majority of the campaign. In two of those losses, they have scored four or more goals and in nine of their last 13, they have got to that tally. The Preds are not the most consistent when it comes to scoring of late but if the Panthers defend as poorly again, that could bring the Preds back to life in front of net.
