Naomi Osaka is back at Wimbledon and will begin her campaign against the unseeded Diane Parry. They will battle in the first round with the winner progressing to play either Emma Navarro or Qiang Wang.

Osaka's return to SW19 ends a four-year hiatus. The former world number one recorded the last of her three main draw appearances in 2019.

She suffered a first-round exit then and will hope to avoid a repeat. Osaka arrives for this match having lost her last two fixtures. She was defeated in the first round in Berlin last time out. The Japanese player made her return to the tour this season to end a two-year break occasioned by the birth of her first child.

She has compiled a 15-12 record and one of her highlights was a quarter-final finish in Hertogenbosch. Osaka, who has never progressed past the third round at Wimbledon, has dropped to 113th in the live ranking.

Meanwhile, Diane Parry will play for the third successive time in the main draw at Wimbledon. The Frenchwoman made her tournament debut in 2022 and has never lost a first-round tie.

She will hope this remains the case here. Parry, who made her career grass debut two seasons ago, is having one of her best campaigns on the surface. She has won four of six fixtures on grass. This has led to the highlight of her season.

Parry made a run to the semi-finals in Nottingham which is only the second time she advanced that far at a tour tournament. The 21-year-old has compiled a 19-15 record and is coming off a second-round exit in Bad Homburg. Parry, who qualified for the third round on her Wimbledon debut, starts the week ranked 53rd in the WTA.
