Montpellier and the Lions are set to face off in round three of the EPCR Challenge Cup on Saturday afternoon. Les Cistes lead Pool 2 after the first two matches while the Lions are fourth. To the match prediction!

Montpellier will come into this match feeling very good about themselves, as they are one of only three teams to still have a perfect record in the competition. 

Les Cistes beat the Dragons 18-14 on the road in round one and followed up with a commanding 59-15 win over Ospreys in week two, putting them on nine points, three clear of Pau in second. 

The hosts also rattled off three consecutive wins in the top 14 since round two of this competition, meaning they are now on a five-match win streak since the start of December. 

Meanwhile, the Lions’ opening match in this competition ended in a 30-14 defeat to Ospreys but they bounced back well a week later to beat Pau 43-35 on the road for a bonus point. 

However, that victory over the French outfit was the only one the team has managed in their last five across all competitions. Their most recent match ended in defeat to the Stormers in the URC last month. 

The visitors are also on a four-match losing streak on the road in all competitions and were beaten 13-3 by their upcoming opponent in last year’s Challenge Cup.
