Sixth seed Emma Raducanu opens her ASB Classic campaign with a match against America's Robin Montgomery. Both players are unseeded for this outdoor hard court WTA tournament. Who'll make it into round two? Read our match prediction below.

Next up for the winner of this match is either unseeded Jule Niemeier or a qualifier. Raducanua beat the former in her last match which was in the Billie Jean King Finals. The British player reached the second round of this tournament earlier this year, losing to Elina Svitolina.

Raducanu began 2024 ranked 301 after being out injured for eight months. This year hasn't been injury free for her again but the 22-year-old has made her way up to 57th on the list. The coming months will see her aiming to play more and improve her consistency.

Robin Montgomery is the world number 117 and was 194th at the start of this year. The 20-year-old had a disappointing final few months of the season with five of her last seven matches ending in defeat.

Montgomery will hope to repeat the kind of form shown in July and August. Round two was reached at Wimbledon and the last eight of the Washington hard court tournament. In her current form this is tough and we tip Raducanu to win in straight sets.
