Molly McCann will face off against Alexia Thainara in the strawweight division at UFC Fight Night 255 from the O2 Arena in London this weekend. ‘Meatball’ has a pro record of 14-7-0, while ‘Burguesinha’ is 11-1-0. Check out our match prediction below.
Molly McCann was originally scheduled to fight Istella Nunez in this match, but the latter was forced to withdraw from the bout due to VISA issues.
Meatball moved to the 115-pound division last year and notched up an impressive win over Diana Belbita, but suffered defeat against Bruna Brasil at UFC 304, taking her to 1-3 in her last four bouts.
While there’s no doubting the Liverpudlian’s determination and experience, she has largely failed to reach the heights she has hoped for, now holding a 7-6 record in the UFC.
Following Nunez’s withdrawal, Dana White opted to bring in another Brazilian in Alexia Thainara for this fight, and she will make her debut this weekend having competed in the Contender Series to this point.
Burguesinha was placed on the radar by dominating Rose Conceicao before getting a unanimous decision victory over her. Six of her 11 wins have gone to the judges scorecards.
Thainara has also found most of her success on the mat, registering a career total of six submissions compared to her opponent's one. However, she has only registered one win by KO/TKO compared to McCann’s six.
