Fourth seed Cori Gauff takes on seventh-seeded Mirra Andreeva in the Madrid Open quarter-finals. This is a match being played in the same part of the draw as top seed Aryna Sabalenka. Here's our match prediction.

Gauff is a former French Open finalist but that's one of only two clay court singles finals the American has reached with just one title won four years ago. This is her second clay court event of the year and for the second time in a row, the American has made it to the last eight.

Her week began poorly with no games won in the opening set of her first match against Dayana Yastremska. That's the only set the 21-year-old has lost this week with subsequent wins over Ann Li and Belinda Bencic.

This is the third match between these two players. Gauff has won both of them and one was on clay.

Mirra Andreeva is attempting to win her third WTA 1000 tournament of the year. The other two though were won on outdoor hard courts. Her clay court season started poorly with a loss in her second match in Stuttgart last week.

In Madrid, the Russian has defeated Marie Bouzkova, 27th seed Magdalena Frech and qualifier Yuliia Starodbubtseva, all in straight sets.
