Mirra Andreeva vs Aryna Sabalenka Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Mutua Madrid Open
by Daniel Ngulu | in Tennis Predictions
Second seed Aryna Sabalenka and the unseeded Mirra Andreeva are set to battle once again at the Madrid Open. They will square off this time in the quarter-finals with the winner playing Yulia Putintseva or Elena Rybakina next. Mirra Andreeva was eliminated from last year’s edition in the fourth round by Sabalenka. It was an exciting debut appearance and she will now seek to hand the same treatment to the Belarussian. Andreeva has defeated a seeded player in each of the last three rounds. The last two have failed to win a set against her. Seventh seed Marketa Vondrousova fell 7-5, 6-1 in the third round and then 12th seed Jasmine Paolini was ousted 7-6, 6-4 in the fourth. This impressive run will her the 17-year-old confident of upsetting another top 10 ranked player. Andreeva, who has compiled a 12-5 record, has moved up four places to 39th in the live ranking.
Aryna Sabalenka is the defending Madrid Open champion. Her success last season was the second time in the last three years that she has triumphed in Madrid. She is now seeking to become only the second player to win three titles and the third to secure back-to-back crowns. If the Belarussian manages to win again this season, she will tie the record for most titles in this WTA 1000 event. Sabalenka hasn’t been fluid in victory in her title defence and has lost a set in each of her three rounds. She defeated the in-form Danielle Collins by coming from a set down in the last round. Despite her success in the tournament, Sabalenka has dropped one place to third in the live ranking.
